How to Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone iOS4

It took longer than usual, but the hackers have finally cracked the new iOS4 from Apple. But it looks they spent a lot of time on it, because this may be the easiest hack for the iPhone yet.
All one needs to do is go to jailbreakme.com on their iPhone browser* and use the very convenient "slide to jailbreak" slider at the bottom of the page.
*If Jailbreakme.com isn't working for you, try also http://jailbreakme.modmyi.com/.
That's all there is to it.

It was created by the hacker known as Comex, and it works with all iPhones that are running on iOS4 (or backward versions too like 3.1.3 or 3.1.2). Once the iPhone is jailbroken, it can then be unlocked with the UltraSnow application. Heres how:

1. On your newly jailbroken iPhone, go to the Cydia application. It was automatically added to your homescreen after you jailbroke it. Cydia is basically like the prodigal brother of Apples app store. It contains all the applications that were disapproved by Apple (and unfortunately also contains pirated apps), that can now only be installed on your iPhone by hacking it.
2. Enter Cydia, and go to the "search" tab
3. Search for "Ultrasnow" then install it.
4. Your iPhone is now unlocked for use with any carrier.
Note: This unlock is for iPhone 3G and 3GS for now. The iPhone 4 version is still coming soon.

This guide is for people who have an iPhone locked to a carrier and wish to change to another carrier. Or for iPhone users who want to use an application on Cydia that's not available on Apple's store.
Hopefully it will NOT be used to pirate applications that are already on the App Store, since they are so cheap to begin with (only around US$2-4 on the average, c'mon!), and it will kill the developers livelihood.
Also take note that jailbreaking is not officially sanctioned by Apple, so it is done at the discretion and risk of the user.
