Fastmac U-socket: First wall outlet with USB charging

Most, if not all, gadgets nowadays are capable of USB charging. Pocket MP3 players, Mobile phones, portable game consoles, cameras, etc. They usually have their own AC charger plug that takes up previous space on your wall sockets. That's why people usually just charge them while connected to their computer via USB.

Well, now we can have the best of both worlds. Fastmac, a US based electronic company, just launched their new product: U-socket. It's a basic wall socket that has 2 USB charging ports. So now, we can plug in our gadgets and charge via USB even if our PC is shutdown, and without grabbing AC space from our other electronics. Since it functions as a normal wall outlet, it's supposed to be easy to install just by replacing one of your existing outlets. It's one of those things that you might say: "How come nobody thought of that before?".

The U-socket is available for US$19.95 in Fastmac's website, and possibly throughout electronic stores later on.

  1. A bit pricy though. If price of that will remain, I'd rather buy an extension and a wall charger
