iPhone 4 Manila

Live at Apple: The New iPhone 4 has been unveiled!

Apple's annual WWDC conference has just concluded. One of the biggest news to come out of it is the Official unveiling of the NEWEST iPhone.

And Here is the iPhone 4.....

According to Steve Jobs, the Iphone 4 has the following new features:

  • Uses the Apple a4 chip; running on iOS4
  • Strong glass coating on both the front and back! Steel rimmed edges
  • The metal band around the steel rim acts as part of the antenna, giving much stronger signal
  • Highest definition screen on any mobile device: 960x640 display.
  • 24% thinner than the iPhone 3GS, claims it to be thinnest smartphone in the world
  • There is now a camera at the front for video calling, and the camera at the back is now 5MP and has an LED Flash (finally!)
  • Records HD video at 720p 30 fps
  • iMovie editor is now built-in on the iPhone (like in the Mac)
  • Longer battery life than the iPhone 3GS
  • New feature: Gyroscope. The iPhone 4 has a built in gyroscope to detect the 3D orientation of the device

thanks to Engadget for live-blogging the event.
I'll post more of Apple's big news and announcements after they arise.

For those in Manila wondering when we will get the iPhone 4, I just confirmed that unfortunately we are not one of the countries to be included in the 2nd batch of releases in July. I spoke to my contacts in Globe, and they informed me that a late August or September release is more likely. However Singapore (Singtel, Globe's stockholder) and HongKong will be getting the iPhone 4 by July/August, and they usually have unlocked versions for sale, so that is one option for Manila buyers.
