Update to Android 2.2 with your Nexus One

Google started distributing the update via OTA (Over the Air) method as usual. Of course the first Android device to get the update is Google's very own Nexus One. Who knows when Manila users will get their OTA update, especially when the Philippines is not even part of the official Google serviceable list yet. So how do you get yours right now?

If you have a Google Nexus one, But cannot wait to get your Android 2.2 update, you can download the update file here: http://www.mediafire.com/?k0z44zkjv5z
The original link was already pulled. So this is the back-up saved in Mediafire (good thing!), i checked and it's still available as of May26th..who knows for how long.

If you rooted your Nexus one is (like with Cyanogen), DO NOT attempt this manual update! You need to restore it to it's original stock condition first.

To Install it on your Nexus One:
1. Rename the downloaded file to update.zip (usually you don't need to type the .zip,it should be the automatic extension in Vista, so make sure you don't end up with a file called "update.zip.zip")
2. Copy it to the root (meaning not in any folder) of the SD card, then put the SD card inside your Nexus One
3. Power off the Nexus one
4. Power on while holding the volume down button (on the left side of the device)
5. Wait a while, then when given the options on-screen, scroll down to "recovery" and select it
6. Wait for the hazard triangle (pictured on the right of this page) to appear. Press the power and volume up button at the same time.
7. Scroll down to  “Apply sdcard:update.zip.” and select it
8. Wait a while....the device will reboot
9. Enjoy your New Android 2.2 device! By owning the Google Nexus One, you are among the FIRST to have the Froyo update.

Here is my Nexus one with Android 2.2 installed:

You can also see a video of Flash running on my Nexus one browser Here

Note: Many apps from the market still need to be updated to work on Android 2.2, so you need to be patient a bit and use the stock apps first. Hey, it's the price of being first.

update: Most major apps are now updated to 2.2
